Traineeships prepare young people for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’. Combining classroom and online learning with a period of unpaid work experience, they give 16-24 year old learners a chance to develop their knowledge and skills in your industry.

You’ll benefit from work-ready candidates and a chance to recruit motivated young employees, eager to grow with your business. Many trainees move into an apprenticeship or employment with their work experience ‘host’ company, helping to increase business capacity and productivity.

By providing young people with opportunities early on, and continuing to invest in their development, you’ll reap the benefits of a loyal and talented workforce.

Traineeship Incentive Grants

Government funding is now available to support employers who can provide trainees with a work experience placement.

The Government’s Plan for Jobs 2020 includes incentive payments for employers who can support young people into work at a time when they are competing in a particularly difficult jobs market. A traineeship can provide the step up they need to gain relevant skills and experience, and if you have a suitable vacancy at the end of the placement, you can encourage your trainees to apply.

You will receive £1,000 per trainee, up to a maximum of 10 trainees per business. You can register and apply for the employer incentive payments here.
