As part of an ongoing commitment to social values and the pledge to help through volunteering and good causes, Seetec team members have been helping out with the local community within Greater Manchester.
On Wednesday the 14th December, three charities were visited by Seetec employees, who were all involved in making food and toy donations to help those in need this Christmas.
The first visit was to Chelwood Food Bank, after picking up a food order from Tesco and a toy order from Amazon. Everyone was given a tour of the food bank, seeing where the donations come in and how they put together hampers for the less fortunate. One of the volunteers at Chelwood mentioned that some of the visitors to the food bank are from working families, but that they still don’t have enough to feed their children. Due to these issues, Chelwood feeds over a hundred families every week.
Teybha Shauket, Administrator for Seetec Pluss, said the following about her visit: “Visiting Chelwood food bank with the Seetec team was an amazing and humbling experience and it was great to see how much support they provide to families on a daily basis.” The team were awarded an Appreciation Certificate by the food bank.
Meanwhile, other members of staff were visiting The Brick in Wigan, a charity that offers services to people who are homeless. Volunteers at the Brick also help people tackle the root causes of poverty, debt and hunger. Again, food orders were made and delivered to the centre and hampers were given out to the visitors.
Finally, members of the team visited Handy Ladies in Stockport, where they deliver hot food to people in need over the Christmas period. Seetec made a monetary donation and helped out with the deliveries.
Timothy Harper, a volunteer for Handy Ladies said the following: “Thank you to all those involved for your generous donation to our charity. It will be put to good use helping us to continue to feed hot meals to 130 people in need across Stockport three times a week.”
